Congratulations to Amir Boroujerdi who was named National Association for Alternative Certification (NAAC) National Intern Teacher of the Year. Competed against high school teachers across the country to win this award at the secondary level.

Amir teaches Spanish at Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas. He was recognized for his success with students in the classroom, as well as his commitment to helping students graduate and apply to college.

In his little spare time, Amir volunteers to help low-income students navigate the college admissions process. He also works with College Forward, an Austin-based non-profit organization that also works to help disadvantaged students get to college.

Amir will be receiving the award at the NAAC Conference in San Antonio, Texas on January 30th, 2009.
