Did You Know?

Timing is Everything: The Earlier the Better
No matter what you are doing to prepare for college, the earlier you do it the better. There are a lot of advantages to doing things early. Don't fall behind, and you will be in a better position when you apply to college.

Have you taken your ACT yet?

If not, then you've come to the right place.  You should start preparing and take the ACT early in your junior year if possible. This give you time to prepare before you ever have to worry about starting your applications. Plus, if you get your ACT score and you still think you can do better, you can do some more practice and take it again. In fact, of the people who took the ACT more than once 55% increased their overall score.

Do you know where you want to apply to college?

Great!  Get those applications in as soon as you can.  If you're a senior and you don't know where you want to apply, you better decide quickly.  There are only so many spots at each school, and even if you get your application in before the deadline, there is no guarantee there will be spots left when they get to yours.

Do you have a school that is definitely your top choice?

If a school that is your top choice has an early action or early decision plan, you should consider using it. Acceptance rates for both early action and early decision are usually higher than the regular application deadline. But be sure to read the rules: depending on the school, if you get in you may be required to go there. If this is the case, only use this option of you are sure that is where you want to go.
